Gmajna (2020)
Gmajna
Country of Origin: Slovenia Length: 95min 35s Original project format: DCP (2K), 1,77:1, colour, stereo language: Slovenian documentary an AGRFT student production/project 2. year 2018/2019 Film directing - MA
Summary: | Gmajna is a Slovene word that designates both a community and it's freehold or uncultivated land. Gmajna is also the name of a Slovene village filled with an aging population facing radical changes in a postsocialist world that is vastly different from the world of their Yugoslav youth. The film presents testimonies of elderly individuals from the area who reflect on their own personal destinies on the background of the changes the Slovene society has been facing through a century of political transformation. A poetic work of film
historiography with beautiful pastoral images of the sub-Alpine countryside focuses on intimate chronicles of Slovene farmers relating their exceptional memories of the land, the gmajna, of their histories. |
